Windows 8 is the newest operating system from software giant Microsoft expected to be released this year. The much hyped operating system managed an impressive 1,000,000 plus downloads of it consumer preview version. Windows 8 offers a new range of unique and interesting features.
 
Massive changes have been made compared to its predecessor. Under the hood, its support for touch screens, USB3.0 and ARM processors mostly used in smartphones and tablet devices has won many hearts.
 
Windows 8 also offers users the privilege of booting from a DVD or any type of removable disk without having to install it. With a copy of Windows 8 on a flash disk you could use any computer without having to change anything.
 
A new type of user interface known as Metro style which provides an exciting and new look. It replaces the traditional Start button with more pleasing Start screen with a range of nine colours and 5 patterns to choose from.  2 new methods of authentication are now available. You could use a 4 digit PIN number or you could use a picture password which requires users to draw 3 gestures on an image.
 
Windows users notice a reduction in speed of previous Windows operating systems often cured by a reinstallation. Windows 8 goes around this by introducing a Push Button Reset feature. It enables users to either Refresh or Reset their systems. The Refresh option gives users a comparison of the performance between the current system and a new system. After reinstalling, a user will be able to retrieve all their data, settings and Metro applications without much sweat. Reset on the other hand removes all data, settings and applications allowing users to start all over again.
 
Windows8 also offers anew Control Panel and Task Manager. The new Task Manager lists Metroand desktop applications only. Also,3 new tabs which show Disks, Application History and Network statisticshave been added.
 
Windows 8 takes synchronisation to the next level. By use of Windows Live account, you could sync all your applications, bookmarks and other preferences on any computer. This service also allows for up to 5 simultaneous logins.

Pollution is the process of addition of unwanted contaminants and substances into air water or land that cause imbalance of the nature and ecology. It disturbs the ecological balance. It can be of several types. They can affect the air, water and soil and accordingly they are named as air contamination, water contamination and soil contamination. Another type of contamination is the noise contamination. Air contamination is caused when the air is contaminated with harmful chemicals. The main sources of air pollutants are factories and automobiles which release the harmful chemicals in the form of fumes. Fossil fuels are the other sources of air contamination. The polluted air is detrimental to human beings, animals and the ecology. Water contamination is another form of contamination. The industrial, domestic and other waste products are the sources of water contamination. The waste products are dumped in rivers and other water sources that pollute them. Release of harmful and toxic chemicals like pesticides, herbicides and many others not only pollute the water but also make it poisonous. These harmful chemicals deplete the oxygen from the water bodies and thus pose dangerous for the aquatic life. The polluted water bodies also prove fatal for the human beings. Human beings when come in contact with the polluted water suffer from various diseases. Diahrroea, cholera, typhoid, dysentery are the most dreaded diseases caused by the consumption of polluted water. The water contamination needs to be controlled for which several steps have to be followed. First of all the industrial and domestic waste water should be properly treated before of dumping them into the water bodies. Secondly, the water used for drinking purpose should be purified or boiled properly to get rid of the harmful substances present in it.

Apart from air and water contamination there are other forms of contamination. One of them is the soil contamination which is caused by the dumping of harmful substances and non-biodegradable items in the soil. Pesticides, organic fertilizers are responsible for the loss of fertility of the soil. These pollutants not only make the land barren but also kill the microorganisms residing in the soil. Noise contamination is another form of contamination common in big cities. The noise generated from factories, automobiles and other sources is a cause of concern. Human ear can sustain a certain range of sound. High intensity noise can prove fatal for the human ear and lead to a number of diseases. The most affected and vulnerable to this contamination are the patients and kids.
